In preparation for my first Saddle Sore 1000 Challenge, I’m sharing with you what to pack for an Iron Butt / Ride 1K in a Day ride. This means that I rode over 1000 miles in less than 24 hour timeframe, on my little (but mighty) Harley-Davidson Sportster 883. The route I planned was to […]
Between Marquette and Columbia County just north east of Portage, Wisconsin is Rustic Road #104. It’s about a 5 mile route, all paved thankfully. Some parts of the road are a bit on the rough side but nothing too bad. The French Creek Wildlife Area and John Muir State Natural Area are both nearby, definitely […]
While summer is in full swing, and a babysitter is covered for the kiddos, we try to do date nights out on the motorcycle. Our most recent and favorite dinner stop: Town Council Kitchen & Bar in Neenah, Wisconsin!
Although a super short road for this Wisconsin Rustic Road (#69) in Portage, it has a lot to offer. You travel along the historic Portage Canal, and it leads to the Indian Agency House that was built in 1832 and I guess one of the oldest federal-style houses in the state. Open to the public, […]
Over the Fourth of July, I had the chance to ride Wisconsin Rustic Road #63 in Glenbeulah. This road rests on the remains of glacial and stone and it definitely was a fun ride to celebrate the holiday. The last portion was filled with old forests with steep hills and curves.
Wisconsin Rustic Road #72 on Mountain Road in Pickett, Wisconsin was the second road on my list to ride on my motorcycle. Reason being? It’s close, easy to make that morning commute before heading into work. About Wisconsin Rustic Road #72: This 3.1 mile road is almost nothing but loose gravel, so I kept a […]
The first rustic road on my way to earn Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Rustic Roads Motorcycle Tour. If you travel 10 of these roads, you’d be eligible for a patch and that’s my goal to finish by the end of this riding season. You can check out all the roads on the tour here.
The best kind of a days are spent together. The best kind of dates are spent on our bikes. So we took a day date down to Milwaukee Wisconsin to check out the Brewtown Rumble event. This was a ride-in vintage motorcycle show. Picture live music, food vendors, beautiful vintage bikes (and cars), some of Milwaukee’s best cafes and restaurants.
