We took a day trip to the Wisconsin Dells area recently, called it our Sunday-Funday. These trips don’t happen often enough. So we found a babysitter for the kiddos and started the day in the Baraboo region first.
We were hoping to hike Devil’s Lake State Park but the weather wasn’t in our favor, so we had to postpone that for another day. Our first recommendation, was our absolute favorite. If you know our love for finding new locations and new cocktails…we headed to Driftless Glen Distillery. It was fantastic place to grab a bite to eat at the bar. We taste tested some of their alcohol spirits AND oils!
We ordered the Bánh Mì sandwich with butternut squash risotto as the side. The Margherita flatbread (pictured above) was delicious. The drinks went down so smooth. Of course we had to try the old fashioned cocktails (because you all know us too well). They incorporate some of their oils into the drinks. The Maple Old Fashioned one was Chris’s vote and the Blackberry Old Fashioned was Whitney’s.
We wanted to be more of a “local” rather than a visitor. So we headed to Port Huron Brewing Company to check out some of their craft brews. They did not disappoint.
As always, we choose a flight so we could try a variety of different ones. Our favorite: Port Huron Hefeweizen and “40 Days 40 Nights” Wit Beir. Chris of course couldn’t leave without a handmade in Wisconsin beer mug in hand.
So then we ready to relax. Sundara Spa came highly recommended from large amount of other couples. Heck yes we were excited to experience it for ourselves! Because they are a screen-free facility…no photographs were taken. It was nice to reconnect with each other. Of course, we grabbed a couple cocktails and some eats poolside. Spent a lot of time soaking in the hot tub. Then ended with a couple’s massage before we had to head on back home.
