The little lady and I completed the Fern Dell Gorge Hike within Mirror Lake State Park. We absolutely love the Sauk County area of Wisconsin (aka the Driftless region). This hike was perfect for us.
It is a short 1-mile hike (loop) on top of the standstone formations. We went on mid-week afternoon, not another soul to be seen. We did spot a pair of kayakers below us. Make sure to check out our full video, photos just don’t do this area complete justice.
We really enjoy getting outdoors together as a family, as often as we can. It instantly helps relax everyone. The kids always seem so much more calm in the outdoors. So the more we can get out the better it is for all of us.
We enjoyed the shaded cover of the trees, and feeling “on top of the world” standing on top of the Fern Dell Gorge sandstone cliffs. We know there is more to explore within Mirror Lake State Park, and look forward to going back for more adventures. I am excited to take my kayak along next time and paddle through the cliffs below for a different view.
You can find more information on Fern Dell Gorge Hike here. If I didn’t have precious cargo, I would have definitely made my way down to the bottom of the sandstone formations to check them out as well! Definitely a must if you are feeling adventurous and you don’t have little ones. If you’d like to see more of our hiking adventures, follow along here.
