I took spent some time in Central Wisconsin. Throughly enjoyed hiking at Hartman Creek State Park in Waupaca, Wisconsin just a day or two after a snowfall. It was perfect to get out, enjoy some fresh air, the quiet and stillness. Took a short video clip with my new iPhone, of course I had to try all of it’s capabilities.
When I went it happened to be right after a fat-tire biking meet up, which looks so fun to try. Thankfully I was the only one on the trail early afternoon on a weekend. Couldn’t have asked for a better getaway to recharge, relax and enjoy the wisconsin winter air.
I also used this hike to test out my new Winter hiking gear additions which includes: Eddie Bauer Fleece Lined Pants (find similar items here) and Adidas Terrex Snow Shoes (Climaproof hiking shoes here).
Both were exactly what I needed for this hike. The fleece lined pants were not too heavy/bulky like snow pants and allowed to still keep me warm with just leggings under them. The snow shoes were my first hike breaking them in, so of course I’ll need to put on a couple more miles. But I loved how warm they kept my feet and waterproof for when there will be more snow. These most likely will be my shoes I’ll use when I snowshoe as well.
The path that you see above in the photo as still water on each side of it. I look forward to coming back again in the summer months with the kayak. It seems like the perfect location to get away and enjoy a sunset paddle and dinner on the beach.
