In preparation for my first Saddle Sore 1000 Challenge, I’m sharing with you what to pack for an Iron Butt / Ride 1K in a Day ride. This means that I rode over 1000 miles in less than 24 hour timeframe, on my little (but mighty) Harley-Davidson Sportster 883.
The route I planned was to circle around Lake Michigan (starting in Wisconsin, going through Illinois, Indiana and Michigan…ending back in Wisconsin). My google maps had it logged as 1039 miles, and my actual odometer clocked in at 1,012 miles for the challenge.
If any of you know me, I like to be prepared for anything. Riding this challenge solo comes with it’s risks, but I wanted to make sure if a problem or issue did arise…I could tackle myself. So for any of you looking at completing your first Iron Butt / Ride 1K in a Day Challenge, I went into detail of exactly what I packed on my little sporty.
I also shared the exact items on my moto-vlog on YouTube here if you prefer to watch instead of reading:
