Driving through the driftless region of Wisconsin, a visit to Wollersheim Winery and Distillery is a must! We had the opportunity to take the bikes on an overnight getaway. You can’t go wrong with anywhere in this area, but we specifically wanted to ride one of the Wisconsin Scenic Byways: Lower Wisconsin River Road (Highway 60 portion).
During the ride out through Prairie du Sac, we decided to stop at a distillery, because that is what we always love to do. We saw a sign for Wollersheim Winery & Distillery and decided why not. Well, let me tell you…it DID NOT disappoint (not one bit). They even have motorcycle parking, fantastic win in our book. We had an absolute blast at the distillery, in pure heaven.
Although the winery portion was a bit traffic heavy filled with two bachelorette party groups, we weren’t really in the wine mood. So we moved quickly, and headed towards the distillery building.
The way they made the drinks with the exact gear we have at home, all the way down to how they pinched the orange/lemon peel at the end before they served it to us. We savored every last drop, and the experience made it that much more enjoyable.
Needless to say, we walked out with as much as our saddlebags could carry. Whitney’s favorite: Apple Brandy. Christopher’s: Coquard Brandy. I see many delicious drinks in our near future now at home because of this stop, as you know we do love our old fashioned drinks.
We also saw the owner’s custom bike photo on the wall too, it looked absolutely amazing!
